The content in this website does not relate to any place other than the Newton-le-Willows area, this website was not setup to host content covering St Helens, Warrington, Wigan, Leigh or any other local towns, all of these places have their own websites. If you join this message forum and plan to participate by posting new topic threads or by answering the existing threads, then you should bear in mind whilst making your posts, that this website is meant only for discussions of a local historical nature.
The forums are moderated by volunteers who kindly offer their time to keep things running smoothly, any postings made concerning areas outside of Newton-le-Willows or Earlestown area risk being closed or locked as being off-topic, In such cases, website urls will most probably be posted as part of the closure post, to guide any further interest to more suitable websites covering the respective areas
While participating in this forum, you should remember that a suitable post will have relation to the history of the area, or it should add relevant information into some existing topic, any post which is deemed unsuitable will be locked or removed by Steven Dowd or one of the moderators
People post into this website from all over the world, and the posts are always welcome, most especially so, if the post and the resulting thread stays historical in nature and stays Newton-le-Willows or Earlestown based
Just being born in Newton-le-Willows or Earlestown, or living in the local area does not give any person the right to post anything they wish into this forum, your reminded that the website is not made available for discussion of current events or recent local news issues, however they are dressed up. It is not for the discussion of local / national companies, neither is it for discussing local councils or inactivity of local / national bodies or for posts about any problems caused by any combination of these.
This website forum is not here to act as your local newspaper, its not here to act as your local soapbox and its not here to be used as a forum for local gossip.
Threads relating to past experiences, childhood memories, genealogy of local families, lost friends, old teachers, apprentice training, working memories are all suitable and relevant, but a post about how many drunks you think you saw in Market Street this morning is not, posts where people chat about such things as a community get together to tidy up a local park would also be suitable, but posts questioning why the council has not been picking the litter up in market street are not.
If you do not agree with this local historical theme to the forum, or you are signing up post about anything other than local history related things, then please do not post, you are more than likely at the wrong website
The only reason for starting the website, and then the forum, is to facilitate discussion of a LOCAL HISTORICAL NATURE, and that means directly local to Newton-le-Willows and Earlestown.
