Big House on Emmets Brew or nearby?

Postby HAUNTED1234 » Mon May 28, 2012 2:22 am

I have been told stories about a family member who used to run or own a 'lodging' type house near on on Emmets brew?

Now this lady wasn't really spoken about as she had a few children all with different surnames! obviously frowned upon then, and wasnt allowed to be discussed with my great grandfather...he was born around 1911 ish. Now this lady was his mother but Im now struggling to find out any information about her or if indeed this house existed. My mum remembers her vaguely. Does anyone remember this house?

My Great Grandfather was called John Knight, however his sisters (i believe he only had sisters) had different surnames (allegedly fathered by her various 'lodgers')

seems my great great grandmother was rather popular back then!

If anyone can shed any light on this id be grateful! Im in Australia so am finding it a little difficult to access local documents etc.

Many Thanks in Advance
